Since I graduated from Northwest Missouri State University with a double major in Psychology and Sociology I have been fortunate enough to work at some amazing companies. Right out of college I worked at Boys Town Nationional Research Hospital as a Behavioral Health Technition. Working with children with some of the most severe behavioral and developmental challenges taught me patience and understanding in a way no other job could have. I learned the importance of team work, cooperation, and the difference a positive work environment can make. When you have a supportive team, even the most challenging of tasks can be enjoyable in their own way. My next opportunity came in the form of a Life Skills Assistant at QLI, working with young adults with Brain Injury. At this point in my career, I had now gotten to work with young children and now young adults. Both I can say are rewarding and challenging in their own ways. As a 5 year winner of Omaha’s Best Place to Work, I had the privelage to learn and experience the affects of an amazing work place. Through cross departmental training and integration all employees had the opportunity to learn how every aspect of the company worked. While the positions I held at QLI were Life Skills Assistant and Front Office staff, I truly believe the skills and education I received from QLI span far greater than my official job history can possibly display. I know I will bring my knowledge of communication, conflict, problem solving, and interpersonal relationships to all my future endeavors. In 2016 I decided to move to Oklahoma to work for my family taking care of a family member with Alzheimer’s. This experience pushed me to utilize every skill I had spent the last 7 years gaining and I wouldn’t change a moment of it. From helping family members cope to training in other caregivers, there wasn’t a professional tool that went unused. I am looking forward to using all my professional experiences in the Human Resources field.
