Every person—no matter how accomplished they are professionally—is a work in progress. Kara Cho understands this truth as clearly as anyone. A senior claims adjuster for eight+ years and industry pro since 1998, she handles complex coverage and litigated files specific to municipalities and commercial specialty throughout the United States. Protecting the interests of the company’s clients requires her to dig deep into the details of claims. Performing this kind of work to a high level of excellence entails sharing her data and knowledge with others and learning from others in equal measure. To systematize this sharing process, Kara recently led development of the Governmental Immunity Depot (GIDE). It’s a database that gives claims adjusters throughout the company detailed information on governmental immunities, tort claim acts, case law and court decisions in jurisdictions throughout the United States. Her penchant for improvement extends to her life outside work. She continually tinkers with her motorcycle, with wood working, renovations and upgrades her cabin in the Texas Hill country. And after putting her education on hold for 18 years while she raised her children, Kara has put the final touches on her Bachelor’s degree in December 2016, graduating from the University of Texas. Clear proof that, no matter our achievements to date, we should all aspire to be works in progress.
