I was an associate in the firm's Trinidad office, working in the Corporate, Commercial andConveyancing department. My main areas of practice included company, securities, banking andfinance law and the provision of regulatory advice to local and international entities. Relative to thelocal market I also practiced in real property, with a focus on the preparation of agreements forsale, Instruments of transter, mortgages, bills of sale and releases of security instruments.

In this role I worked directly under the managing partner in control of the Corporate, Commercial & Finance and Real Estate & Property Development departments of the firm. I was involved in complex mergers and acquisitions, liquidation matters, meetings with high-level stakeholders in and out of the region, company restructuring inter alia. I developed practical legal opinion writing and research skills, gained extensive general and niche knowledge of commercial law particularly, Caribbean, Canadian and United Kingdom securities and takeovers law. Advanced my drafting skills through drafting, reviewing, and editing, company resolutions, share-purchase agreements, lock-up agreements, property descriptions, Wills inter alia.

Clinic on investor-state dispute settlement (ISDS) reform for the Caribbean.

In my last year at the University of the West Indies I tried out to be an international mooter for the Cave Hill Campus' Law Faculty. I was fortunately selected to be part of the team for the prestigious John Jackson International Moot Court competition. This competition is held by the European Law Students’ Association (ELSA), with the technical support of the World Trade Organization (WTO). It was an amazing experience where I was able to develop my knowledge of the WTO dispute settlement system as well as the operation of the General Agreement on tariffs and Trade (GATT) and The WTO Agreement on the Application of Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures (SPS Agreement), amongst many other areas of WTO law. Through this moot I was also able to develop my writing and oral speaking skills through preparation of a written memorandum and oral presentation of both the complainant and respondent sides of the issues at hand.

Worked in conjunction with Coastal Dynamics Ltd to collate legal data for the Comprehensive National Coastal Monitoring Programme. Developed research skills, particularly in the area of International Environmental law treaties and their incorporation in to national law

As the Guild of Students representative for the Keith Hunte Hall of residence at University, I was able to enrich my leadership, teamwork, communication and networking skills. It allowed me to perform a leadership role for over 5000 students attending the University at the macro level and the 64 residents living at KHH on a micro level. The position also afforded me the opportunity to work with a team, to set policies and make decisions to improve the lives of the student population as well as interact with executive staff and student leaders at all the university campuses regionwide.

This internship ensued in the summer of 2018 and provided me with an opportunity to work directly under a Resident representative for the IMF. I advanced my qualitative and quantitative analytical skills while producing a research paper on labour mobility in the Caribbean region. I also attended and contributed at meetings with visiting IMF executive staff, the Governor of the Bank of Jamaica and members of the Government of Jamaica
