Serving in a three-year fellowship, I co-founded and launched HablaCentro Informatics with the goal of creating a mobile-based collaborative citizen journalism network serving Latin America. Some highlights of my contributions include:• Launched more than 15 projects impacting a diverse set of communities in more than five countries.• Built global partnerships with both private sector companies, such as Youtube, and public institutions, including the US State Departments, and different civil society organizations.• The user-generated stories, reporting training materials and civic tools were used by different global partner to increase civic engagement and media literacy.

I built strategic partnerships with fellows and social impact leaders to support organizational goals. I focus on continuous process improvement, identifying solutions for talent, venture, partnerships, and integrity teams. A selection of my successes include: ∙ Designed and launched Tilt, a peer-to-peer youth-led changemaking project to increase the density of changemakers and increase community health. ∙ Launched a trouble ticket system for internal search processes and operations. ∙ Led the development of a research protocol connecting changemaker density to the health of communities.

As the executive director at Carolina Public Press, my role was multi-faceted, focusing on content development, organizational management, and marketing. I oversaw the creation and editing of content on our website, ensuring it adhered to the highest journalistic standards. My duties extended to managing financial records, processing contributions, and grants, and liaising with our accounting staff. I was also actively involved in fundraising, writing grant applications, and maintaining donor relationships. I was responsible for the development and management of training programs, nurturing content partnerships, and overseeing different programs and initiatives to ensure a steady influx of fresh perspectives and innovative ideas to keep our content relevant, timely, significant and engaging.

Steers the strategic vision of the newsroom, both in overall direction and outputs that include long-form pieces, short news updates, in-depth enterprise and investigative series. Prioritizes the organization’s core principles of reach, impact and sustainability in decision making.

Working collaboratively with senior correspondent, executive producer, senior producer and other team members to identify long lead and more immediate reporting projects and oversee their development from conception through to delivery for FUHi. Futuro Unidad Hinojosa Investigations (FUHi) is its new investigative unit, dedicated to producing highly impactful multimedia journalism that will hold the powerful to account for the communities we serve. With a unique approach to investigative reporting, it centers the human experience. FUHi will build on Futuro’s long standing relationships with the communities we serve (Latino/a/x, Black, immigrant, Indigenous, LGTBQIA) to develop story ideas and work with them to create new areas of inquiry and data to illuminate issues they face.

Educated international students, from elementary to college level, on diverse issues through Pulitzer Center’s Skype in the Classroom. Through this initiative I reached more than 1000 students in more than seven countries, provided interactive, customizable sessions to inform students on journalism, transparency, accountability, migration, and the responsible creation and dissemination of news. This included creating class material around current events and first-hand experience through a global perspective.

Led multi-disciplinary teams by building strategic plans to guide daily operations and champion the organizational mission. I monitored outcomes to deliver results, assessing benchmark performance, return on investment, and progress on goals to identify and address deficiencies. I helped leadership make decisions and fulfilled reporting requirements by gathering and preparing donor reporting for the Mexico Border Investigative Reporting Hub, Latin America Media Initiative, and Open Data Costa Rica. A sample of the accomplishments I made serving in this role include:· Streamlined and standardized all reporting processes and multi-partner collaboration for award compliance and donor requirements on awards totaling $7.5 million.• Identified, developed and executed on program structures which increased the social impact of the investigations produced.

Taught courses in Writing for Communication, a required course for undergraduates majoring in Communications, and helped with other courses such as social entrepreneurship.

Graduate research assistant as part of a doctoral fellowship program in Communication. Assist with projects and the research, analysis and publication of investigations related to the architectures and institutions of Internet governance, net neutrality, Internet freedom and the politics of top-level domain ownership. All research conducted in partnership with Professor Laura DeNardis, globally recognized Internet governance scholar. American University’s doctoral program combines humanistic and social scientific approaches to the study of communication. The accelerated design of the program is an 11-month mentoring and learning environment, enabling students to complete their degrees in three years.

Directed activities to influence public, media, and policy agendas to address democratic challenges,. I built omni-channel social innovation strategies, processes, and tools that unified audiences and enhanced visibility of public and stakeholder opinions. I served as a liaison across seven regional innovation hubs in seven global regions for this USAID and Sida-funded effort, helping guide projects end-to-end and fulfilling documented objectives. Some of my top accomplishments included:· Design and development of civic innovation gallery to showcase more than 200 projects from seven regions of the world.· Acted as interim deputy and advisor to Chief of Party for the project.

I assisted civil society organizations (CSOs) to expand their international digital capacity, offering assistance with implementing cutting-edge technology solutions and providing resources. Some examples of my contributions include:• TechTrainer in more than ten TechCamps; conducted 10+ media, journalism, and technology trainings for 50+ average participants per training in 10 countries.• For PeachTech Costa Rica convened international stakeholders from Central America on peacebuilding and civic technology solutions while providing seamless activity and logistics oversight for activities.• Founded and organized TechCamp Guatemala to connect civil society with technology solutions.
