Grants Administrator/Manager
I began my tenure at MUSC as a grants administrator within the University’s Office of Grants & Contract Accounting (OGCA). In this position I was responsible for maintaining revenue budgets, transfers, and expenditures for 13 departments within the Department of Medicine. I was then offered a position as a grants manager in the Digestive Disease Center (DDC), which was one of the departments that I managed while I was a grants administrator. The transition to Grants Manager within the DDC required me to gain more specific knowledge about the department, researchers, and clinical protocols. It also required me to coordinate with researchers within our department and personnel in other units around the University and Hospital in order to develop grant budgets and proposals. Since most of our grants came from corporations like Pfizer and AstraZeneca, the use of funds were less restrictive but required more attention to the details of the proposal.
