Leading the cultural transformation of the Dealing with Dementia Program to improve care provision and quality of life for African American caregivers of persons living with dementia in Georgia

I have been an asset in the development, implementation, and conduction of efficacy trials of the course. Duties include: -Assessed the course’s equitable approach and literacy level to target 6th-8th grade reading capacity.-Worked with the instructional design team to translate written curriculum into a multi-media, online course. -Led the course preliminary efficacy trial (2022), course revision trial (current), and 3 publications. -Developed & delivered 20 scholarly, professional, and community-based presentations on the course pilot data for stakeholders. Caregiving While Black (CWB) is a novel, online course, culturally tailored to enhance caregiving mastery in Black caregivers. Topics include managing home life, healthcare navigation, and self-care competencies

I have been a part oft he Faith Village Research Lab since it was first developed in 2018. Since I have assumed a leadership role and lead the writing team with interdisciplinary students, engage community work around brain health and dementia awareness in surrounding Georgia communities, as well as co-author and lead numerous manuscripts and professional conference papers. The mission of the Faith Village Lab is to improve access to resources and awareness of Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias in African American and faith communities by conducting research and providing education.

- Adhere to guidelines of the Journals of Applied Gerontology, Religion and Health, & Alzheimer’s & Dementia: Translational Research & Clinical Interventions. -Proficient in AMA, APA, and AP style guides - Peer-reviewed 2 manuscripts as a reviewer in training. - Peer-reviewed 6 manuscripts as a peer reviewer. - Reviewed re-submitted manuscripts to decipher publication decisions.

-Developed a strategic plan to support 25 Emory clinicians in developing written patient education that meets diverse health literacy needs. -Tailored document readability with Flesch Kincaid tool to target 6th- 8th grade reading level. -Assessed documents for usability and feasibility with the Patient Education Materials Assessment Tool-Developed a ‘Best Practices for Developing Patient Education Materials’ guide for clinicians. -Created an original training on upholding health literacy principles in verbal and printed patient education and delivered it to 30 EHC nurses, nurse managers, and clinicians. -Drafted a pilot project summary and presented to EHC for leadership buy-in to make EHC a health-literate organization.

-Developed 5 modules (20 hours) of written content on the role of social and literacy support in community health. -Collaborated with the instructional design team to translate written content into various forms of media (simulations, videos, learning assessments) on the learning management system. -Maintained the mission of ARCHWay throughout the creative process. Funded by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), ARCHWAy is a training program for current and aspiring Georgia community health workers to help address health equity gaps, costs, quality, and access needs affected by social determinants.

managed data collection and participant engagement for the Clinical Trial of Tele Savvy: an Internet-based education program for caregivers of people with Alzheimer's or another dementia. Duties included - Led survey data collection efforts with over 200 dementia caregivers from the U.S.- Managed all longitudinal data in the REDCap data system.- Streamlined data collection status updates at bi-weekly meetings with the project director to adhere to the National Institute on Aging (NIA) [AG054079] grant deliverables.
