About Karama Kanoun

My research interests include modeling and evaluation of computer system dependability, considering hardware as well as software, and dependability benchmarking. I have co-directed the production of a book on Dependability Benchmarking for Computer Systems, published jointly by IEEE Computer Society and Wiley, 2008.I am heading the research area on Crucial Computing at LAAS CNRS since 2012, and I have been heading the Dependable Computing and Fault Tolerance Research Group at LAAS CNRS (January 2008-March 2013). I got my Doctor-Engineer and the Doctor-ès-Science degrees from the National Polytechnique Institute, Toulouse.I have chaired the Special Interest Group on Dependability Benchmarking of the IFIP working group 10.4 (2005-11). I am past Vice-chair of the IFIP WG10.4 on Dependable Computing and Fault Tolerance (2006-12). I have been the principal investigator of the DBench European project on Dependability Benchmarking (2000-04), and managed the integration activities of ReSIST, the European Network of Excellence on Resilience for Survivability in IST (2006-09). I am chairing the Steering Committee of the European Dependable Computing Conference, and member of the Steering Committees of EEE International Symposium on Software Reliability Engineering and IEEE International Conference on Software Security and Reliability. I have served on the program committees of major international conferences on dependable computing, and I was Program (co)-Chair of SAFECOMP, ISSRE, DSNJournal Editorial Boards- Revue de l'électrité et de l'électronique- Int. Journal of Performability Engineering- Int. Journal of Critical Computer-Based Systems- Int. Journal of Discrete Event Control Systems- IEEE Transactions on Dependable and Secure Computing (2008-12)- IEEE Transactions on Software Engineering (2004-08)- IEEE Transactions on Reliability (1998-05)Specialties: Computer science, resilience, dependability evaluation and benchmarking, software engineering
