Karandeep Singh is a Manager, Tech Lead at Capital One. Colleagues describe them as "Karan is an exceptional employee, and I would recommend him for any Development team. He is an extremely talented Software Engineer, with huge knowledge of front-end development and on how to adapt it effectively to mobile devices. I was really impressed with his excellent research skills, communication, creative solutions to complex problems, and his work ethic." and "Karandeep Singh worked under the Undergraduate Student Research Program (USRP) at NASA Ames Research Center. Even though the research experience only lasted 4 months officially, Karandeep was able to devote extra time (from his vacation) to take the project further to achieve and document the desired results, his work contributed greatly in the area of work: • Theoretical understanding the structure of piezoelectric material (Zinc Oxide nanowires) and metal substrates (FeCrAl alloy and silicon) • Develop new production methods and characterize Zinc Oxide Piezoelectric nanowires using new equipment quickly and efficiently • Undergo training and adapt to a new strictly industrial environment to follow strict health regulations, equipment care and as well as equipment training for scanning electron microscope (SEM) and atomic force microscope (AFM) • Study theoretical and physical aspects of spectroscopy such as SEM, Raman, XRD and specially AFM, where physical hardware modification was to be conducted to validate and test physical application of nanowires and substrates • Ensuring safety regulation while performing the lab experiment abided by law • Providing moral support, document processing and assessments, publication writing and review, and taking part in required social opportunities. Though Karandeeps' goal was to formulate a methodology for producing nanowires on silicon substrate, he went a step further and produced the vertically aligned nanowires on a metal substrate. This change in material allowed faster, most efficiently and accurately growths, but mainly allowed us to be able to later measure the electrical conductance if necessary. Further understanding of how the vertically aligned growth might occur on the metal substrates surface, led the team to publish two articles in reputable, peer-reviewed journals. The conductance was to be measured using an AFM, which he was able to learn and modify on his own time with minimal training. This modification and further use of AFM allowed the team to measure the resistive switching of the nanowires, again allowing us to publish an article for the new findings. Overall, his achievements and exceptional qualities including communication, team work, dedication of work at hand, and attributes aiding in other areas required during the time period allowed him to excel through the projects. I would be glad to have him be involved into our studies again once his dedication to school work and his other projects is complete, he was a tremendous asset to our growth. If you have any other question regarding his background or qualification, do not hesitate to contact me further. -Michael M. Oye"
