I Karan Ranka am an Architect/Urban designer by profession and a deep thinker by passion. Masters of Urban Design graduate from the University of British Columbia, Vancouver. Through the primitive years of architectural training in India I was intrigued with engaging myself in the relation of the built and the un-built, which was later known to be referred to as Urban design.This interest was developed further with three years of experience in India by working in firms dealing with projects from smaller bungalow scale to larger city scale masterplanning (The details of which could be found in my Resume and Portfolio ). Though my primary interest in the inter connectivity of how numerous tie together as a cohesive whole remained consistent. Choosing to focus on Urban Design for my graduate studies further helped me sharpen this interest. It was molded timely with my internships at Võ Trọng Nghĩa architects, Vietnam and PWL Partnership Landscape Architecture, Vancouver with a speculative vision towards Landscape Urbanism with Climate Change being the driver for the future urban form. This multilateral approach of how things tie together but remain cohesive, persistent and sustainable is what I am eager on further exploring as my primary area of focus professionally (This interest shall be more evident graphically in my portfolio ). My belief in these values makes me aim for a long-term relationship with the people I associate with personally or professionally.
