Kara is a Certified Massage Therapist with a dream to see the world move better. Through her work she strives to create a quiet, serious and supportive environment in which to learn, share, and promote bodywork and the healing arts. Kara is equipped with the skills to understand and accommodate clients’ needs, maintain motivation to provide care for clients, create meaningful therapeutic relationships and effective treatment plans for each client, and accurately interpret client treatment history.Kara also has a natural talent toward visual art and theatre, which she applied toward costuming, set design, and performance in fourteen different productions (so far). In 2012, Kara spent a summer as a camp counselor for the YMCA Youth Theatre Camps at the Bloomington Playwrights’ Project, and studied for three semesters as a student teacher under Francesca Sobrer at Bloomington North High School.In 2017, Kara earned her Associate's of Applied Science in Clinical and Therapeutic Massage from Harrison College, which she began immediately following the end of her Spring 2015 semester at IU. She started her career in Massage Therapy at That's the Rub the Therapeutic Day Spa, where she spent four years developing her skills as a Massage Therapist and leader. Late in 2019, Kara accepted a position among the Adjunct Faculty of the Therapeutic Massage Program at Ivy Tech Community College in Bloomington, Indiana. She is thrilled to make her return to teaching, marrying her original college major with her new career and empowering prospective massage therapists to uncover their own seeds of potential.With the onset of the COVID-19 global pandemic, Kara made the choice to pause her Massage practice in favor of working in an outdoor setting. At Freedom Valley Farm, she tended and harvested organic produce for sale at local farmers' markets in South Central Indiana, providing nutritious food for her community, learning essential skills, and playing a vital role in keeping food production local.It was upon receiving her full series of vaccinations against COVID-19 when Kara decided to return to her passionate work as a massage therapist and open her own business, a solo practice called In My Hands Massage & Bodywork. Since March 2021 Kara has been developing a closer therapeutic relationship with her community and fulfilling one of her original massage therapist goals - being her own boss.
