I create and facilitate processes that challenge the status quo. I have worked with civil society organizations, non-profits, post-secondary institutions as well as all levels of government. I bring 10 years of facilitation experience that spans large events (200+ participants), small groups (up to 20 participants), in-person, virtual and hybrid settings. My work spans public engagement processes, board retreats, strategy sessions, workshops, and public dialogues. I am familiar and have facilitated a number of discussion types including: generative and deliberative dialogue processes, appreciative inquiry, and open space. My facilitation style and approach is trauma-informed, human-centered, gentle and discerning.

Built the Centre’s communications portfolio from the ground up including hiring the Centre’s first communications team, creating a communications and digital engagement strategy as well as building communications infrastructure to support ongoing strategic operations. Led the development of strategic communications to establish the Morris J. Wosk Centre for Dialogue as a global centre for knowledge and practice on dialogue including:+ Defining communications objectives, target audiences, key messages to support the Centre’s mission, vision and program objectives.+ Developing the brand narrative and managing the reputation of the Centre among dialogue and engagement practitioners in the local, national and international community.+ Developing a strong content strategy and implementing communication plans for strategic priorities and projects.Lead an internal stakeholder process to create a new website strategy and completely overhaul the Centre’s website (https://www.sfu.ca/dialogue.html)Management and oversight of the Centre’s operational communications activities including graphic design, social media, newsletter/email marketing, website management, promotional activities for public events and student programming.Oversaw public relations in delicate circumstances and high visibility.Provided communications support for dialogue and public engagement projects, including fee-for-service projects with government clients.Supervising, coordinating and overseeing the Centre’s communications team including the work of staff, co-op students, work study students and volunteers involved with the delivery of the communication programs and activities.

A role with many hats, my portfolio included communications, media relations, programming, event planning, and partnerships.COMMUNICATIONS:I created, implemented and evaluated the organization's first communications strategy including a complete rebrand and website overhaul. I co-designed and led media relations for a year-long provincial campaign which included overseeing development of a microsite to support 50 community roundtables in 30 communities. I responded to media requests and represented the organization on radio, print and online media, as well as in-person while speaking at events. I oversaw the technical development of a digital map of over 2400 groups working on sustainable development. I coordinated the production and printing for reports and all branding materials. I oversaw all online communication including social media, web content, and e-newsletter.PROGRAMMING & EVENT PLANNING:I planned and facilitated of a series of five 'unconference' style open space community dialogues as well as led planning the AGM and annual conference four times. I coordinated a sold-out a youth TEDx-inspired speaking event. I co-facilitated an intensive six-day youth leadership course. I put together a provincial speaking tour discussing global citizenship to five communities during the time of the global ebola crisis.PARTNERSHIPS:As the lead on member relations, I met with current and prospective members. I managed and maintained the organization’s CRM, including annual survey and renewal processes. As part of my work, I also coordinated meetings with other networks in Canada to explore collaboration. MANAGEMENT:I hired and supervised students brought on with support from the Canada Summer Jobs funding I secured for the organization. I regularly led training for new volunteers and supervised between one and five at any given time. I hired and oversaw contractors for web design, graphic design, videography, photography, research, and technical support.

Part of the social media and communications team, I worked to make sure any tweet or Facebook comment was answered in under an hour. During a busy shift I would take nearly 100 calls a day. I often responded to sensitive concerns and escalated emails always ensuring quality customer care in both English and French. I coordinated a team day for over 60 people and sat on a taskforce to prepare the company for compliance with (then new) Canadian Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL).

I designed a two-week youth-focused social media campaign that ran on both Twitter and Facebook platforms. The campaign aimed to increase web traffic and engagement with tweets, posts, and targeted Facebook ads.

I used both online research as well as phone interviews to put together a summary report on the feasibility of remote indigenous communities in British Columbia starting up and running their own small-scale renewable energy power projects in order to move them away from dependency on diesel generators.

I ran the organization’s Global Cooperation Awards program, including promoting and seeking nominations, leading a selection committee, and coordinating the media and ceremony to award the prizes. I also lead the organization’s biggest public campaign of the year, ‘International Development Week,’ which included a province-wide public engagement campaign, as well as an in-person event featuring a panel of young changemakers from around the province.

I provided administrative support to Canada’s two biggest public international development fundraisers: World Partnership Walk and World Partnership Golf events. Over two million dollars were raised between the two BC events in 2012.
