I am a writing and speaking instructor with expertise in composition theory, media writing, public communication, women's rhetorics, community engagement, and gender communication. My Rhetoric and Composition Ph.D. research focused on how nonprofit and social good organizations use writing to impact women's lives and on hospitality theory in educational settings. My Journalism masters degree focused on advocacy journalism and neighborhood storytelling. I have now turned my scholarship into applied work via my teen mentoring and women's empowerment nonprofit, SparkVoice, along with offering workshops and trainings for non-profits, educational organizations, churches, and corporate venues. I often speak and conduct workshops on communication principles, women's issues, employability, writing, and self-efficacy. I have a love for the local and collaborating with organizations working to grow healthy communities and supporting transformation around cultural and societal needs.
