Karen is a passionate advocate for sustainable food systems, with a focus on aquaculture as a solution to improve nutrition, livelihoods and conserve biodiversity. As a technical consultant at the Association of Women in Fisheries Blue Economy Kenya, she promotes sustainable practices that align with SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) and SDG 14 (Life Below Water), working to ensure responsible fisheries management for food security and environmental conservation.In addition to her work on food systems, Karen is committed to empowering women in the fisheries sector, helping them improve their livelihoods through sustainable management practices. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Fisheries and Aquaculture Management and is certified in ESG standards and Food Safety, combining these skills to drive innovation in the blue economy.Karen is also a member of the World Aquaculture Society’s African Chapter and actively contributes to industry discussions that foster sustainability and inclusivity in aquaculture.
