I am a serial entrepreneur who loves strategy and execution. For me, fun is finding solutions to big problems and making deals work.Over the years I have worked with a who's who of businesses. There are too many to name here (seriously, the list is long) but a few companies that stand out because they were transformational in my development and the development of my companies are Nortel Networks, Humana, AT&T Wireless, and LinkedIn. In 2000, shortly after I founded GTCI, AT&T Wireless gave us our first big deal. They hired us to develop and deliver a course about 3G wireless, something that most people knew nothing about at the time. They sent us from Alaska to Hawaii and every point in-between where we trained over 2,000 of their employees. Nortel Networks was our biggest customer at GTCI. They believed in us and allowed us to lead their outsourced documentation program globally. They put us in a meeting with all of their other vendors, several of which flew in on private jets, and said, there are twelve of you now, but we want to consolidate to two or three. Go off and form your alliances and get back to us. The big boys wouldn't talk to us and bragged about how this was theirs to win. Later in the process, they realized that we were the front runner so they called us asking us if they could get in on our deal. I politely declined and we won the whole enchilada along with our French and Canadian partners. It was an amazing time. Humana stands out because the first presentation that I ever gave on 5 Dynamics, Mike McCallister, their CEO at the time, was in the room. He came up to me afterwards and told me how intrigued he was by our model and later brought us into the company. It was our first big win. LinkedIn is an amazing partner for us to this day. They utilize our model extensively and they tell others about us all the time. They challenge us to be better and support us as we continue to grow.l am a lifelong learner who has successfully built diverse organizations: from a martial arts studio, to a telecom and data company, to a team optimization and leadership development organization, with a few other businesses in between. I am still having fun and still learning so there is no telling what will be next, but I am open to the possibilities.
