Karen started her career in the alternative investment space in the late 1990s as the head of business development for a London-based long/short equity fund. In this capacity, she travelled throughout Europe and the U.S., building solid long-term relationships with investors all over the world. When Karen left the U.K., she joined New York-based Asset Alliance, where she worked closely with the founders to establish a marketing and distribution platform for their affiliate hedge fund managers. In 2001, Karen joined Rogers Publishing where she launched CanHedge Magazine, a publication dedicated to promoting and building the Canadian hedge fund industry. Karen founded Introduction Capital in 2004, and registered the firm as an Exempt Market Dealer (BC, AB, ON, PQ, NS) with the vision to bridge the Canadian hedge fund market to global investors. Karen has had significant success in connecting preeminent managers with qualified offshore and domestic capital. The firm’s offerings have blossomed well beyond hedge funds and currently attract a full range of alternative asset managers and private opportunities seeking sophisticated capital.Karen is the creator and visionary behind Introduction Capital’s three business lines. In 2008, Karen established Introduction Capital’s Canadian Dealer Business and its clientele of high-pedigree managers from around the world continues to grow. In 2011, she founded the Canadian Alternative Investment Forum (CAIF) and it is a leading and influential conference that attracts expert speakers, industry professionals and affluent investor attendees. For over 20 years, Karen has been building longstanding and purposeful relationships with alternative investment managers, industry professionals, individual investors, family offices, wealth advisors and institutions. She also coined the phrase “relationship broker” from which the trademarked “the art of relationship brokering” came to be Introduction Capital’s tag line.
