Dr. Karen Barwick knew at 6 years old that she was going to be a dentist. And in 1987 she graduated from UNC's Dental School. She started practicing dentistry in Graham, NC that same year - and continues to invest in the dental health of the same community today.She has been very active in organized dentistry throughout her career. She is a member and past president of the Alamance Caswell Dental Society; a member and past President of the Third District Dental Society, a member of the North Carolina Dental Society and the American Dental Association. She also served from 1993 through 1997 as a member of the ADA Standing Committee on the New Dentist.In 2003, Dr. Barwick completed a 300-hour course in Dental Implants at New York University in New York City. In 2011, Dr. Barwick completed 50 hours of continuing education in Implant Placement and Restoration in Loma Linda, California and 7 hours of Continuing Education on the use of Cone Beam Radiography at the American Dental Association Annual Session in Las Vegas.In 2010, Dr. Barwick launched Dental Assistant Training Centers, Inc., a 12-week intensive program that trains students to become a dental assistants (DA I). As of June, 2016, DATC has successfully 14 program sessions.In May 2013, Dr. Barwick and some of her team completed a 15 hour Course in Short Term Orthodontics. We now offer Short Term Orthodontics in our practice.
