Research assistant responsible for the overall management, coordination, recruitment and daily running of the SATIN (Symptomatic V Antibiotic Treatment of Urinary Tract Infections) Study, and other studies in related areas e.g. male UTIs and a point prevalence respiratory tract infection (RTI) study. Responsible for contacting GP practices, setting up meetings and presenting the study to various GPs in their clinics. Recruiting participants from GP clinics in Co. Galway. Responsible for contacting and organizing appropriate Day 4 and Day 28 phone call dates for each patient, depending on date of recruitment. Setting up GP practices on the NUIG Agresso system for payment. Ordering and paying for conference fees, travel expenses, patients recruited and incentives for practices through Agresso. Working in constant collaboration with receptionists, practice managers, nurses and doctors in the 12 clinics participating in Co. Galway. Checking patients’ app data files daily, being aware of new patients recruited by ID allocation and updating a data excel file frequently. Acting as the primary point of contact for project enquiries from GP Practices and patients enrolled in the study or referred by their doctor. Presently conducting two systematic reviews on antimicrobial treatment for UTIs in adult males and prostatitis in male patients.
