About Karen Head

I am an experienced project manager and systematic reviewer with a proven track record of delivering high-quality evidenced-based healthcare resources, including Cochrane Reviews. I am passionate about promoting evidence-based through working to understand the need of the stakeholders, finding and assessing the best available evidence whilst maintaining an appreciation of the other factors which influence healthcare decisions. I enjoy working closely with teams of healthcare professionals, funders, methodologists and consumers to ensure projects are delivered on time, to budget and, most importantly, the outputs are fit for purpose. I have worked as a knowledge translation project manager for Cochrane, working with a remote team leading the planning and implementation of their knowledge translation strategy. Previous to this I have worked as a freelance systematic reviewer and project manager with contract with the World Health Organization (through Evidence Aid), Cochrane, British Medical Journal and National Clinical Guideline Centre, UK. Prior to 2013 I spent 7 years working in guideline development for the National Clinical Guideline Centre to produce evidence-based guidelines for the UK National Health Service. I have an MSc. in Evidence-Based Health, Level 5 qualification in Management and Leadership through the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), and have completed training courses in project management, designing for implementation, GRADE, meta-analysis and multiple treatment analysis (network meta-analysis).
