Originally starting as an advisor I built up a strong legal knowledge that facilitated my progression to deputy team Manager and finally to team manager over a five year period. I provide day to day line management for a team of advisors providing a front-line consumer advice service to ensure a prompt efficient and accurate service is provided to consumers. I oversee, develop, motivate and monitor staff through day to day support and high quality supervision to ensure the team is capable of fulfilling the required service levels agreements. Liaising with partnership organisations ensures a seamless flow of information and builds good working relationships resulting in effective and consistent customer journey. This is further enhanced by consistent refreshing of legal knowledge and by ensuring information systems and client records are effectively maintained.My role also involves regular delivery of training courses for both new recruits and existing staff and representing the organisation at trainer user group meetings. My services have also been purchased by other centres within our larger organisation.An additional responsibility is to promote public awareness of consumer rights and related services empowering them to deal with problems they encounter with the purchase of goods and services. This has included • television interviews on regional news programs• Answering questions on radio phone-in programs for BBC radio Kent.• Speaking at trading standards events to present organisational changes• Marketing the organisation at young consumer events• Contributing to press releases• Distribution of marketing materialsI also manage a small budget for my team and deal with invoicing and record maintenance.
