I am a WSET Level 3/French Wine Scholar Wine Professional with diverse industry experience, specializing in sales, project management, public speaking, relatability and connoisseurship. With a passion for sharing the love of quality wine and cuisine, I enjoy taking the mystery out of wine for everyone, making the topic palatable and fun, and creating personalized food and beverage experiences. I am currently a Portfolio Manager for Maverick Beverage Company in Denver, CO. I also founded/own private wine events business The Casual Somm, in which I translate my industry knowledge to those looking to learn more about wine, and I serve on the Executive Board for the Women's Wine Guild of Colorado, a CO-based non-profit dedicated to creating an inclusive, education-based environment where women in the wine, food and hospitality industries can connect, grow and thrive.I took my passion abroad in 2022 to work the wine harvest in both South Africa and Germany, where I advanced my understanding of the field and cellar work involved in the production of quality wine, and lived in my second home of Denmark in between, working for Danish importer Otto Suenson A/S. I also previously held harvest roles in both New Zealand and France in 2015. As of November 2023, I'd served 8 years as a Sales Rep in the Metro Denver and surrounding areas for a handful of Colorado distributors, most recently as the Fine Wine Specialist (and then Sales Rep post-Covid cutbacks) for CO distributorship Classic Beverage Company. With a diverse background, I boast strong adaptability. My first professional experience was as a Project Manager with EMC, after acceptance into their distinguished Global Services Associate Program. With EMC, I became a certified PMP (Project Management Professional) and was able to develop and professionalize my business and technical skills, which elevated my career to a competitive level. As a dual Danish/American citizen, I've held summer positions in Denmark and have adopted Danish as a 2nd language. I completed my undergrad as a Political Science/Environmental Issues major at Colorado College, where I was a swimmer all 4 years and unprecedentedly served as Captain of the CC swim team for 2 consecutive years. To round out my liberal arts education with business applicability, I attended Dartmouth's Tuck School of Business summer of 2009, completing the highly-selective, month-long Business Bridge program, an intensive business prep curriculum targeted at non-business majors.
