I have worked in the education field since 1995. I was a teacher and also presented educational training workshops throughout the country. After teaching, I began working with juveniles in the court system. Many of these youth have experienced traumatic events in their lives that hinder their success. I was trained in Trauma Informed Care and continue to present that information to educators, service providers, and Spero staff to promote understanding for these youth. I am a certified trainer/educator in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention and CARE (Children and Residential Experiences) through Cornell University as well as a certified Adult Mental Health First Aid Trainer through the National Council for Mental Wellbeing. I use my background in education and training in my position as Professional Development Coordinator at Spero Family Services. Spero provides a variety of services to those in need throughout Illinois. Our agency strives to provide quality care for our clients. We have a wealth of knowledge in our agency and my vision as PD Coordinator is to get our message and knowledge out to those who work day to day with our clients and others who have experienced trauma and/or have mental health challenges.
