As the steward of more than 29,000 acres of parkland, the Department of Parks & Recreation (Parks) is a recognized leader and innovator of public spaces. Within the division of Citywide Technical Services (CWS) the Capital Team works in direct partnership with Parks leadership, and other City Agencies, to assess, design and reconstruct facilities most in need of improvements. The Capital unit at CWS strives for design excellence to support the City’s sustainability goals. The NYC DOT Capital Program Management Division is responsible for developing, coordinating and implementing (through NYC Department of Design & Construction) the City’s street and highway capital program.The program is planned, funded and initiated by NYCDOT and executed by DDC on DOT’s behalf. Capital street projects are major street reconstruction projects, ranging from milling and repaving to full reconstruction of the roads, sidewalks,sewer, water pipes, and other utilities. Capital projects include traffic calming, School Safety, Safe Routes to Transit, public plazas, greenways, Select Bus Service, step streets, retaining walls, sea walls and bulkheads. Capital Projects are essential to keep the City’s infrastructure in a state of good repair.I assisted the CPI team with the following: -Planning the NYC DOT Capital Program and prioritizing projects based on need.-Defining project scopes of work in partnership with stakeholders.-Preparing materials for OMB approval and Capital Project Initiation (CPI) documents for DDC implementation.-Developing project cost estimates, and coordinating projects with funding sources.-Managing project databases to indentify and correct issues.-Composing unit reports including the Capital Safety Book, which reviews and evaluates projects three years after implementation.

North Branch Works was originally established as the Local Economic and Employment Development (LEED) Council and became an independent not-for-profit community development corporation in 2001. As a delegate agency of the Chicago Department Planning & Development, NBW fosters economic development that protects the environment and local employment and serves businesses in the North Branch, Kennedy, Ravenswood, and Addison Industrial Corridors.
