I thought I wanted to be a math educator to solve formulaic problems with predictable answers. Instead, I do quite the opposite: I bolster communities to solve complex problems.Math brought stability, safety, an expected answer. It symbolized what I didn’t see in real life. I learned the reality of difference - culture, ability, race, gender – all impacting who we are as individuals and as communities. From graduate cohorts to advocacy groups, communities have been my mentors. All articulated the same message: collective effort garners potent solutions.These lessons propel the work that I do today. No matter the sector, I seize opportunities that others can’t yet see in: ▶︎▶︎ PARTNERSHIPSI cultivate relationships within public and private organizations all in the name of equity. I advance, build and connect marginalized groups to financial resources, social networks and tradition to ensure system change. ▶︎▶︎ PROGRAMSI lead programmatic initiatives that change outcomes for marginalized communities. This is most evident in my work at Dartmouth resulting in a 72% increase in belongingness for the Black student community in 2 years. ▶︎▶︎FUNDRAISINGI build fundraising frameworks from the ground up. I restructured my current organization creating 3 of the 5 revenue streams from scratch making the department solvent in my first 9 months of the position.▶︎▶︎ADVOCACYI’ve had my hands in policy reform, political campaigns and advisory council appointments. I also speak on race and deaf equity at notable institutions and organizations like the United Nations, TEDxDartmouth, Columbia University, Collegiate Black Deaf Leadership Institute and more.Named one of the Top 15 Inspiring Young Female Activists by Center of American Process and lauded by the University of Pennsylvania's Mosi Foundation my accomplishments echo my belief that if you BUILD a community, you CHANGE the community and therefore CHANGE THE WORLD.
