Year off work for travelling and working on maker projects. Visited Australia, New Zealand, took a glass blowing course and then focused on development of ESP8622 based devices and using my hand built 3D printer.These projects were motivated by my personal interest of understanding how modern electrical devices that we use everyday are made. This includes everything from early prototyping and building the electric circuit (something that was new to me as a software engineer), programming the MCU with C code (and all the fun of debugging embedded systems), 3D printing the housing of the device through to developing an Android application to interact with the devices. More than 2 years working in the smart meter domain with a variety of projects, from development of industry standard V&V tools for SMETS2 metering equipment to development of SMETS1 compatible head end systems.
