I worked in the Ion Trap Group, where I worked in a team on the molecule trap experiment. I built, programmed, and characterized a precisely timed, remotely controlled DC supply used to control the trapping potential of the ion, which I used to reduce the ion temperature down to unprecedented levels. I connected the output noise of the supply to the behavior of the ion in the trap. Further, I carried out simulations on a novel spectroscopy method for molecular ions. I gained experience in many types of laser systems, electronics, data analysis, python and microcontroller programming, and gained general research and laboratory skills.

Zürich Area, Switzerland

I worked in the Trapped Ion Quantum Information group at ETH Zurich where I set up optical beamlines at 729 nm, built interlock circuits for high-current water-cooled Helmholtz coils, investigated magnetic field noise and the its suppression, and recorded and analyzed preliminary data on the 40Ca+ qubit transition.

In the Quantum Optics group I investigated the cause for instabilities in a tapered amplifier system.

At MIT RLE as both an undergraduate researcher, and later, a research assistant, I characterized organic materials and photonic crystals for the use in an organic laser.

As a laboratory assistant for the power electronics lab 6.131 at MIT, I helped students solve their problems in the lab, as well as helped assess their laboratory progress.

Using MySQL and Matlab, I analyzed driving data of all roadster cars on the market in order to draw conclusions about the car's efficiency for typical driving patterns.
