I'm a first-generation American. My father spoke nine languages, my mother two, and me? Well I took three years of Spanish, two years of French, listened to 30+ years of Vietnamese, and can only speak English proficiently. So I leaned in.I decided to follow in my father's footsteps to become a writer, eventually studying journalism at the University of Texas at Austin. And after realizing during my senior year that less than 1% of my graduating class would go on to become professional journalists, I quickly pivoted to using my copywriting and copyediting skills to create compelling marketing. I'm an odds gal.After years of in-house experience at some of your favorite CPG brands, I wanted to get my hands on more better-for-you products so I co-founded UMAI Marketing, a digital marketing and branding agency. UMAI, meaning clever, good, skilled, or delicious in Japanese, reflects our dedication to crafting stories and creatives that ignite emotion, drive action, and deliver exceptional results for the brands we love.I'm passionate about working with innovative founders and marketers, learning from my mistakes, and pushing the envelope on how to better connect with consumers.
