Karina was born in Asuncion, Paraguay, adopted by Cuban immigrants, and raised in Southern California. A proud queer Latina, she has spent her entire career building and scaling companies by being unapologetically culture-forward. Her first company, The Avana House, was founded to represent and advocate for brands, founders, and organizations that were innovating through culture. After six years of leading The Avana House, she pivoted her career to focus on a venture more aligned with her passion for and love of sports. Her latest venture, DRAFTED, co-founded with Jennifer Yepez-Blundell, is the first company content platform at the intersection of sports, Latina culture and technology. Through storytelling and programming DRAFTED brings access for Latinas in the sports ecosystem.An LGBTQIA+ advocate and champion for Latinas in sports, her greatest joy comes from celebrating the stories of those brave enough to be themselves and nurturing that spirit in communities.
