Karina Herrera is a public relations manager specializing in traditional earned media relations. Their expertise sits at the intersection of Healthcare and Tech.Karina has a longstanding passion for using the power of earned media to help audiences make informed decisions for their personal health and healthcare businesses.In their current role, they secure media placements for B2C and B2B brands across the pharma, dermatology, healthcare associations, gene therapy, medtech, biotech, rare disease sectors, and surgical robotics industries, amongst others. Previously, they worked on consumer and corporate media relations across sectors like P&C insurance, QSR, food trade association, semiconductor, telecommunication, robotics, and AI (before it was cool). Their background in academic research gives them a keen eye for converting data into a compelling narrative. As a neurodivergent Mexican American, they bring the lens of their lived experiences to brands’ DEI and CSR initiatives. Karina earned a BA in Integrated Marketing and Communications with a minor in medical History from Roosevelt University. They also completed a year of graduate coursework in Public Administration Health Services Management. Born and raised in the Windy City, Karina lives with their spouse, little brother, and their ill-behaved cats.
