Karina researched, made connections, and actively searched for impactful news stories in Central, Ohio. Karina was also a fill in on the anchor desk, delivering newscasts.

Harrisburg

Karina worked in Harrisburg as multimedia journalist in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania for two and half years. While she was there, she was responsible for making connections with the community to tell stories that impact those around her. Her daily duties included, pitching stories, shooting and editing video, writing. Flexibility is key in this position. She worked weekends and has covered multiple different shifts.

Karina started her television careers as Multimedia Journalist in Altoona, Pennsylvania. She writes, edits, shoots, and produces stories for live television. Karina is also active updating her personal social media platform's along with the television station's. Karina works tirelessly to maintain and build new contacts within the community to put together pieces that inform viewers. Karina also works hard to post web versions of her television stories. Her goal is to craft the best story possible that impacts local viewers.

At KYWNewsradio Karina was initially hired as a Production Assistant, but in the time she was in Philadelphia, she have had the opportunity to work many different positions. Karina started her work mainly in production, but also as as a Radio-TV liaison, a Web Editor and as Social Media Editor. Most of the production work was with with Hear Philly, where content was fed to a web stream: hearphilly.com, but Karina would also help produce some ads. She conducted interviews for the ads if needed, but also helped produce a script.

My responsibilities as the Rudman Media Center Intern ranged from office work to television hosting and producing. For office work, I helped post flyers for Temple University Television and scout out talent for specific shows. For television hosting and producing, I have written and hosted a show called "TUTV Community Forum", "Space Station LIVE" and the extended edition of "Space Station Live". For "TUTV Community Forum" I talked about a variety of topics and from Financial Literacy to LGBTQ Teens as well as interviewing many professionals on the show. In "Space Station LIVE", I had the opportunity to interview three astronauts, live on the International Space Station, which was a monumental moment in my college career.

As a Studio Assistant I was responsible for caring for television studio equipment, assisting professors and students. I helped with the maintenance of the studio, from changing lights to helping setting up new equipment. Not only do I have skills with the studio equipment, I am also an assistant to teachers and students for troubleshooting with technology. I helped students and professors use software such as ENPS and Final Cut Pro, as well as teaching students how to use the equipment, such as the switch board, audio board and many other studio positions.

As the Supervising Executive Producer of Temple Update, I work on the show from all different aspects. The show is a weekly news program where I help create the show, write it, produce graphics and supervise in the control room as well as helping produce our live shots for reporters. I also help manage the stories that air on the show. Communication is a key element in the position, I work with other students who are part of a class as well as volunteers.

Hong Kong

While in Hong Kong, I interned full time Keypad Magazine where I was responsible for many aspects of the magazine. Much of my work involved translation, from Chinese to English. I translated articles and advertisements on a daily basis. Translation was a large component of my work, but I was also given the opportunity to write for Keypad. I conducted an interview which was printed in the magazine and wrote the feature article on watch craftsmanship for the July/August 2014 issue. I also had the opportunity to edit video and assist in a fashion shoot. I edited a 2nd Anniversary video for a company party as well as a show reel. For the fashion shoot, I assisted with prepping the clothing and other tasks. Along with all my other tasks, I also wrote an MC script for the 2nd Anniversary Party, which outlined the whole evening!

At WTXF FOX29 I was part of the "Good Day Philadelphia" morning news crew. While at FOX29, I was responsible for many different elements that made up the morning newscast. I worked on the assignment desk, taking tip calls, calling newsworthy sources, arranging the shows talent guest list and caring for the guests on the morning show. Not only did I help with news gathering guests, I assisted cameramen on their live shots as well as gathering video and interviews. I was also responsible for managing their Instagram account.

At Southbeach and Body Essence, I was responsible for many different types of products and services at the boutique. Half of the store consisted of tanning beds, which required me to consult with clients about the different types of tanning beds and tanning lotions. The other half of the store consisted of a variety of products including bath products, jewelry, make up and Vera Bradley. I learned every brands that was in the store as well as their uses. Vera Bradley was a top product for the store and I was required to know every pattern and every style. This jobs required personable communication skills as well as memorization of key products.

Altoona, Pennsylvania Area

Working at Panera Bread was my first job while I was in high school. At Panera I learned social and communication skills while interacting with customers. I assisted diners with picking items from the food menu, provided nutritional knowledge about the products and made a variety of different drinks, from smoothies to mochas. Not only did I assist with food, I also kept my station extremely tidy. At the end of each night, I was in charge of cleaning down counters, cleaning up used pastry plates, mopping floors, checking expiration dates and packing up left over goods for donations.
