Biochemistry R&D - Research and Innovation department for new and existing FilmArray® panels. The FilmArray® instrument is a CLIA Moderate-High Complexity Laboratories medical diagnostic device. Conducted multiplex/singleplex microbial experiments using real-time PCR. Assisted in testing needed for development, including designing new assays before product panel submission to FDA clearance. Helped develop the FilmArray®Biothreat-E test that received FDA-EUA authorization in October 2014, and the FilmArray® NGDS BT-E that received FDA-EUA authorization in March 2015 for presumptive detection of Ebola Zaire virus.

Instruct a college level biology lab class. Topics in class include, metric system and converting units, using microscopes and other lab equipment, macromolecules and cell structures, properties of enzymes, movement through plasma membranes, metabolic pathways, mitosis and meiosis, Mendelian and chromosomal genetics, molecular biology techniques and gel electrophoresis, DNA profiling using STRs, population genetics and evolution. Clarify topics talked about in lecture that might not be well understood, and prepare the students for lab work in the real world.

Identigene was previously known as a Sorenson Genomics, LLC sister company. Automated DNA extraction and PCR setup with laboratory robotics. Manual DNA extraction on a variety of sample types. Capillary electrophoresis and general sample quality analysis. Troubleshooting robotic software and mechanical problems such as reteaching programs, as well as keeping standard operating procedures (SOPs) up to date, and constantly improving overall lab quality to ensure it is kept to the standards of our multiple accrediting bodies. Trained in a wide variety of STR panels such as paternity testing, Y chromosome ancestry testing, and clinical identity verification. Also trained in mitochondrial sequencing for ancestry testing, and OpenArray testing using SNPs. Manage a team and train new employees on proper lab techniques, robotic instruments, and new panel types so our quality remains high and uniform.

Worked independently managing two locations; payroll, employee schedules, accounts payable, accounts receivable, garnishments, new hire reports to the State of Utah, bank deposits, statement reconciling, and vendor 1099 forms. Integrated the clock-in system for both locations, produced quarterly reports, and other Human Resource duties as well as issue consignment checks to customers. Worked with Quickbooks and ConsignPro software.

Awarded Recognition of Excellence in Reservation Sales in October 2005. Supervised three employees, scheduled reservations and payments of upcoming guests, provided useful visitor information about the resorts and local areas, and provided extensive customer service for guests over the phone to ensure their vacation proceeded smoothly.
