Kaohsiung, Taiwan

Taught English to grades one through six at two elementary schools in a rural district of Kaohsiung Country in Taiwan. The goal of the grant was to cultivate mutual understanding of both the American and Taiwanese cultures through language exchange and opportunities to interact with a diverse group of American and Taiwanese citizens. Wrote weekly reflections regarding the functionality of English lesson plans to be used as case studies for the Fulbright Commission and Taiwan’s Educational Bureau.

Atlanta, Ga

I worked with a team of student volunteers to schedule dance and musical performances and catering services, as well as secured the venue and organized a silent auction for an annual banquet raising $10,000 in donations with 300 guests in attendance. Proceeds went to the China Care Foundation to fund heart and intestinal surgeries for disabled orphans in China. Our team built relationships with private and corporate donors over the course of four years, including families who had adopted from China for whom we organized weekly Chinese culture and language classes, as well as professors, healthcare professionals, and businesses throughout the metro Atlanta area.
