My main research interest is the estimation and monitoring of vegetation biophysical and biochemical traits from an accurate retrieval of surface optical properties and an adapted consideration of the scene 3D structure by using remote sensing data and physical modeling. These traits are defined as remotely-sensed essential biodiversity variables (RS-EBV) and my purpose is to understand how they are related to vegetation stress due to biotic or abiotic pressures. My studied cases are trees ecosystems (urban areas, open/dense forests in Mediterranean and mountain/temperate climate, orchards) targeting different applications (impact of anthropogenic activities, climate change with increased droughts, forest fires, pests and diseases, agricultural practices). The methodology I employ is based on 3D modeling, radiative transfer simulations (PROSPECT, SAIL, DART) and inversion methods relying on machine learning.
