The bank supports companies and individuals with interests in Africa, Europe and the Middle East.Reporting to the Executive Credit Committee, Board Credit Committee and the Board, I am responsible for playing a key role in the reduction of loan loss provisions of the bank through supporting the CEO, CRO and Head of Legal in the management of the credit watch-list portfolio, and to make recommendations in respect of credit strategy. In the position of Acting Head effective from February, and then Head from April 2018, I was tasked with the re-establishment of the Distress Debt Management Unit which included staff recruitment and training. This also involved the drafting and embedding of the unit’s Policies and Procedures, and the Operational Risk Framework.Tasks in the role include, but are not limited to, the following:• Management of Intensive Care and Recovery of doubtful and loss accounts in collaboration with internal and external lawyers and administrators• Monitoring credit risk activity and exposures• Management of a distressed loan book of approximately £680-million with clients based in Greece, Nigeria, Chad, Cameroon, Morocco, Sierra Leonne, and South Africa• Analysing workout situations, evaluating recoveries and making recommendations to Credit Committees and the Board• Identify and assess risk events and trends and assist with frontline early credit risk detection and mitigation• Work with risk asset distribution team in de-risking the current credit portfolio• Advise on pricing model to manage upwards in a functional manner and by degree of risk/collateral• Sensitivity analysis on credit portfolios taking into account key risk drivers• Keeping up to date with changes and updates in regulations, laws and practices

Co-Founded SA Fuel & Oil Distribution Close Corporation in 2009. The company distributed lubricants and fuel (petrol, diesel, paraffin, etc.) to wholesalers and end users. In 2012 the close corporation was converted into a private company, at which time I became a director of the company. Co-Founded Vitatype Trading 107 Close Corporation In 2011. The company purchased a distressed liquor store, and subsequently purchased 3 more stores in 4 years. We developed the 'Discount Liquors' brand and offered a delivery business to both businesses and homes. In 2017 I sold my interest in both businesses to my co-founder in order to pursue my interest in distressed debt management.

• To manage a lending portfolio, in such a manner as to minimise losses to the bank, maximise recoveries and/or restore the client to normal control• Each Corporate and Business Banking client is assessed and identified as either a bankable proposition, whereby the bank will assist the company to restore their profitability, or for their facilities to be repaid, failing which the company would be liquidated• Since Special Portfolio manages the “intensive care” clients within Corporate and Business Banking divisions, we maintain a close relationship with the client, giving us insight into their operations enabling us to understand their business and the industry in which they operate in, when making an assessment• Due to the nature of the job, there is both a relationship as well as credit role • Negotiate new facilities, covenants, terms & conditions and security required with clients• Credit reviews (based on management accounts and annual reviews) on the client which is then reported to the Divisional Credit Committee• Rating of client on the new Basel II model that the bank is in the process of testing and implementing• FICA
