I recently received my Bachelor of Arts in English with a Creative Writing concentration from Longwood University and am looking to start my career in a field such as communications, public relations, human resources, journalism, and literary publishing.Before my time at Longwood, I also received an Associate of Science in General Education from what used to be John Tyler Community College.In addition to being heavily involved in my high school’s newspaper and contributing to the creation of Longwood’s literary magazine, I was able to strengthen my writing abilities as an editorial intern at Inner Voice Artists for their Global Spotlight Magazine. IVA also hired me on as a freelance writer for the Global Spotlight Magazine, executive assistant to the CEO, and head writer/interviewer/publisher of IVA’s Artist Spotlight newsletter series shortly after the duration of my internship ended.It is also worth mentioning that, during my time at JTCC, I was part of a Virginia Community Colleges program called Great Expectations. Great Expectations is a program for VCC students who were past foster care kids. It was through this that I was fortunate enough to be a part of the Great Expectations Leadership program where I was able to further grow my leadership skills and learn ways to facilitate positive change in my community.I hope with a communications centric career that I can use my skills as a storyteller to help with the improvement of others and create a positive change in the world we live in. I want to be able to make concepts that are otherwise difficult to comprehend more understandable for those who may find trouble in doing so. The most important thing I hope I achieve with a career in communications is to raise a spotlight on diverse and minority communities with an emphasis on neurodivergent, POC, and LGBTQ+ individuals.
