Kari Stephens is a partner at JEFFREY BURR. She is also the managing attorney of the firm’s Summerlin Office. Kari’s practice focuses primarily on trust administration, probate and estate planning.Kari is actively involved in volunteering her time in the legal community. She is the President-Elect of the State Bar of Nevada, and a past Chair of the Blue Ribbon Committee on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion of the Board of Governors of the State Bar of Nevada. Kari has the distinction of being selected as Vegas Inc's 2013 Women to Watch. She is a member of the Clark County Bar Association where she served as President in 2013 after serving on the Association's Executive Board since 2006. From 2003 to 2010, Kari acted as a Trustee for the State Bar of Nevada's Client Security Fund, during which period she investigated defalcation claims against attorneys on behalf of the State Bar. Kari is also a member of the Probate & Trust Law Section of the State Bar of Nevada, the Southern Nevada Association of Women Attorneys, the Nevada Latino Bar Association and the National Bar Association, Las Vegas Chapter.Kari completed her undergraduate studies at Oregon State University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration (Magna Cum Laude). She went on to study law at Willamette University College of Law, in Salem, Oregon, earning her Juris Doctor (Cum Laude), having graduated fifth in her class.Kari began her legal career at a Portland law firm representing clients in all aspects of trusts and estates. Upon relocating to Las Vegas, Kari joined the Wells Fargo Bank Trust & Investments Center, where she managed the local Trust & Estate Settlement Services department, overseeing the settlement of Trusts over which the Bank had been designated as Trustee. She thereafter joined Goldsmith & Guymon, P.C., as an associate attorney, practicing in the areas of probate and trust administration, estate planning and small business representation. Throughout her career, Kari has routinely represented fiduciaries, beneficiaries and heirs involving contested matters. In 2005, Kari joined the trust and estate litigation law firm of Solomon Dwiggins & Freer, Ltd., where she later became a partner in 2008. She thereafter joined JEFFREY BURR in 2012 where she is now a partner with the firm.
