I currently work with juniors, seniors, and dual-credit students to help them reach their educational goals of meeting graduation requirements. We focus on writing and reading components on a daily basis to help students work on their vocabulary, stamina, grammar, and ability. I have given students the opportunity to self-select books that may be to their liking, and the option to change if needed to help them understand how things work in the real world. Through reflection this year, 100% of the students who mentioned self-selected writing, appreciated the opportunity to choose their own book and change when needed to start a book they may like. Of the students who addressed an increase in writing ability, 90% indicated that writing every day helped them become better writers through vocabulary, grammar, and descriptive language. Twenty-five percent have chosen to continue to write outside the classroom. Overall, I feel that I am reaching the students through a learning level as well as a level where they can understand what it means to succeed.

Residence Hall Director for 1500 Students (Graduate & Exchange)

Area Coordinator, supervised two co-ed residence halls.

1. Accountable for all housing administrative records related to students in assigned halls, including computer and floor rosters2. Maintains accurate records concerning individual student and common area group billings, student conduct reports, and incident report files. .3. Oversees, in conjunction with the AC, the overall general upkeep and facility care of the assigned hall within the area, including regular walk-through tours of the residence hall building to effectively monitor the conditions of the facilities.4. Provides direct supervision to undergraduate R.A.s. 5. Supervises and monitors the maintenance of accurate records of keys, including room and master keys and temporary access cards.6. Participates in the recruitment, selection, training and evaluation of R.A.s and other department staff.7. Participates in annual weekend retreat.8. Oversees programming and in-service requirements for residence hall staff.9. Serves as the official advisor to the hall council.10. Works closely with Student Conflict Resolution Services and the AC to ensure that disciplinary cases and appeals are communicated thoroughly and properly.11. Inspects and maintains records of painting of rooms.12. Conducts in-hall disciplinary sanction meetings with residents.13. Participates and assists with Fall and Spring workshops, as required.14. Supports and enforces university and housing policies regarding student conduct and works with students and staff to develop a proactive, educational approach to student conduct problems.15. Participates in area duty rotation covering nights and weekends.16. Serves on various committees and task forces throughout the year at the discretion of the Director and Associate Director of Residence Life.17. Responds and follows up, as appropriate, to emergency/critical incidents related to students in the hall.18. Assists with the summer conference, summer school or special assignments as needed.
