I am a proud low-income, first-generation graduate. I know what it is like to navigate a system not built for me. I know what it is like to find community in the struggle. And I know what it is like to build new systems, create new opportunities, and fuel incredible growth. Our identities impact our work and I'm proud of my story. Whether helping first-generation students complete their degrees or helping all students meet their basic needs, my work has always been about envisioning a world without poverty. I believe in a future without poverty. I have joined the Homeless Services Division where I support San Luis Obispo County in reducing and preventing homelessness. As the HMIS Program Manager, I believe in using data as a tool to identify inequities, find opportunities for improvement, measure success, and ultimately share our community's progress in shaping the future we all deserve. Additionally, I am an advocate in my community. I am currently serving a four-year mayoral appointment as Commissioner on the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board with the City of San Luis Obispo. As Commissioner and as the elected-Vice-Chair, I advise on city resources and strategy and advocate in support of low-income community members and services. I am also the Commission's assigned Liaison the Active Transportation Commission with the City of San Luis Obispo.For four years, I taught a one-unit UNIV 100 course specifically designed for first-generation college students called Learning to Learn: Transitioning to College. I incorporated relevant skills and knowledge for collegiate and post-graduation success prioritizing anti-bias, anti-oppressive, and antiracist curriculum. Key skills: staff and budget management, public speaking, program development, institutional policy, staff training, workshops and programming.
