Data EngineerCity Electrical Factors Mar 2020 - Oct 2021GbI am responsible for the production of data though Development, Test and Production for all data held within the UK, Channel Islands, Ireland, Spain and Australia with equates to 44 main databases and 6 other Adhoc databases. I dynamically pull all this data together using SSIS and building load and executables tables held within SQL Server 2017. I introduced plug in events from Zappy Sys to deal with supporting data for migration to AWS S3 due to constraints with inhouse data and UTF8 formatted files which can be zipped under .gz format and read by S3 buckets and convert to parquet file format to optimize upload performance speeds as well as lower costs within the cloud. Using SSIS I also plug into live API’s such as currency conversions which runs every few hours in order to dynamically give the most accurate conversion rates at point of sale. I have created an on-premise data lake which is help is its rawest form and pushed data though staging and reporting databases to product true facts and dimensions that plug into Power BI for easier modelling and data manipulation.Although I am not fully working within the cloud, yet I have had full training from AWS directly and giving me knowledge of how to create S3 landing zones. Creating crawlers and glue jobs to push data between buckets for landing and production as well as data brew and pushing to final Redshift tables to be plugged into Power BI. I am currently working with 3rd parties AND Digital and Inawisdom around full cloud migration and creating dimensional models between on premise and the cloud. -
