I am currently the general manager for Te Runanga o Arowhenua, a role I absolutely enjoy because it is so varied and interesting. Arowhenua's takiwa is from the Rakaia river to the Waitaki river and inland to the Southern Divide.People ask me what my role entails and I struggle to describe it but here goes, I am the general manager of a busy Marae of which in my first year have lifted the bookings by 165% which in these Covid times is a great effort. I meet regularly with the CEO of Timaru District council and mayor to continually develop the relationship between TDC and the Runanga. I have a continual flow of the Runanga through the door asking for all types of day to day guidance to big family decisions. The environment is very close to the runanga's heart so we are are developing relationships with DOC, ECAN & LINZ to work alongside them to help them understand and develop the Runanga's values over the takiwa. I report to the executive who are a very cohesive team and have nothing but the best interests of the runanga at heart.This is a very rewarding place to work.....
