One out of twelve educators selected for the Aspire to Leadership program in 2019-2020 which seeks to develop its district leaders. Provided principal coverage to district schools as needed. Collaborated with a small team of district leaders to develop a year-long initiative proposal, focused on equity, that was presented to the Colorado Springs District 11 School Board and Superintendent. Worked with students at all levels of English proficiency (K-5) at three schools in the school district, in 2019-2020:- 94% of students showed growth on their WIDA assessments, as compared to 2018- 2019.- 16 out of 41 students moved to full English proficiency, exiting our English Language Learner program.

Serviced fourth-graders, with an average of 26 students per class, in a Title I school with a 90% Free and Reduced Lunch Rate. Earned the second highest growth score in 2017- 2018 in the district out of 13 elementary schools by increasing student scores in English Language Arts by 14.4%. Exceeded state (50.0%) and district (55.5%) median growth rates for 2017-2018 standardized testing with a median growth rate of 63.5%. Awarded the first ever Rachel Pedraza Dewey Scholarship at the Educating Children of Color Summit by writing a grant to support instruction in the classroom. Participated in leadership opportunities such as instructional rounds with school principals and was selected as the pilot teacher for 50/50 bilingual education program initiative in the school district.

Taught and provided quality and linguistically diverse early childhood education to migrant family children and other eligible families across New York. Planned, organized, and provided instruction in English and Spanish using the Core Curriculum Content Standards and the WIDA English Development Standards.Used the assessment tool, Teaching Strategies Gold, to document student achievement. Developed my own assessments for the purpose of evaluating students’ progress in meeting learning targets and their progress.Advocated for migrant families through community activities and educational programming, as determined by needs.
