As a special educator and parent, I believe all children can learn and each child has the right to benefit from an individualized education that meets their intellectual, social, and emotional learning needs. Every child brings unique characteristics that enrich the classroom community. As a professional educator I view the classroom through the lens of social constructivism and humanism. I value education and view teaching as an opportunity for continuous growth and learning. I believe as educators we have great potential for creating a better world through our students. I am fully committed to preparing the next generation of teachers and believe that our contribution as teacher educators is vitally important to ensuring our students have a safe and supportive environment in which to develop the skills they will need to pursue their dreams. As an educator, I hope to inspire a love of learning and desire to continue improving, as I share my own passion for teaching and learning.I hold a master’s degree in Special Education and am ABD in Curriculum and Instruction. I have five years experience teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, ten years administrative service supporting pre-service teacher candidates, and nine years experience in secondary education. I am comfortable working in various learning management systems including Canvas, Brightspace by D2L, Moodle, and Blackboard.
