GPMACC is an alternative building materials research group with lines of research in product development, application of technology, and engineering analysis, with a focus on civil construction. Project developed aiming to reduce environmental impacts and increase sustainability in civil construction, as well as providing new destinations for solid waste from agriculture, promoting the Circular Economy.• Motivation analysis, planning, testing, technical feasibility analysis, production of a detailed technical report, and elaboration of suggestions for future research;• Analysis of the potential use of soy straw fibers as reinforcement material for cementitious matrices with the purpose of being applied as an alternative construction material;• Preparation of 60 specimens of conventional concrete and with natural and chemically treated soy straw fibers;• Determination and comparative analysis of physical (density and hygroscopicity) and mechanical (resistance) characteristics of the specimens;• Identification of an increase in concrete strength with an increase in the percentage of chemically treated fibers, reaching 1% with the addition of 10% of fibers and a tendency to increase by 25% with the addition of about 20% of fibers;• 97% achievement in the final report evaluation.
