Since my cardiology fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic, I have seen the practice of medicine from numerous perspectives. After the most demanding, yet most rewarding experience of running a solo, invasive cardiology practice for eight years at Baylor Grapevine, I experienced surgical complications. Upon my return to practice with an unknown medical complication, I chose to close it and voluntarily surrender my license until I was able to meet with the Texas Medical Board (TMB). Thankfully, the surgical and medical complications have been resolved and I have since had the opportunity to explain the situation to the TMB.Over the past few years, I have taken the 10-year cardiology board recertification exam, applied to and been thoroughly evaluated by the TMB, remained up-to-date in the exciting world of cardiology with numerous hours of CME, and am licensed to practice in the world I dearly love. Being blessed to have recovered from a very challenging situation, I am currently looking for an opportunity to best use my passion, training, experience, knowledge, and this hard-earned, first-hand patient's view. My IT knowledge can help patients navigate and extract useful information. Having programmed an EMR with customized templates, I can help decrease the time required to enter vital, accurate information. This data will enable us to provide a more personalized approach to each now and even furthermore in the future. With machine learning and augmented intelligence, I feel that we can spend more time with the patients we consider in need. I'm compelled to help patients become more involved in their own care, with a thorough assessment and plan that we develop together to prevent going down needless roads of illness in countless waiting rooms and procedures. I firmly believe that we can do more than place band-aids by focusing increasingly on preventive strategies. I now more clearly see the nations' need for a health-care system rather than an illness-care system, whereby we can extend the patient's quality of life across all demographics in a much more effective team-based approach. I believe the unprecedented time over the last couple of years with COVID has rapidly shown the utility of telemedicine and numerous other online team meetings in medicine that will facilitate the goals above.
