Working in the telecontrol, telemetry and telecoms field team fixing telemetry faults on RTUs and automation equipment in indoor and outdoor substations, as well as pole mounted equipment and telecontrol faults in primary substations, so that all the equipment works when needed. This can involve testing the equipment using laptop software, visual inspections, using a simulation test box to confirm equipment is working correctly, removal and testing of actuators, testing signal levels and commissioning new sites which involves working closely with SAPs, Control Engineers and other Engineers. I also do some work on the SDH and multiplexing equipment which is a field I am looking to improve my skills in.

Worked with various teams and colleagues to gain experience within the different areas of the Telecoms department whilst working towards completing my apprenticeship.

Worked on databases including the making and running reports, data entry and checking/verification, GIS map work, dealing customer enquiries and reporting on monthly figures.

Worked in the stockroom which included loading and unloading stock from lorries, stocktaking, helping customers and colleagues with large products and reorganisation of storeroom.
