Karl managed the information gathering and interviewing of department heads to determine the cost drivers for each piece of the integration timeline and derived a set of questions to ask senior management during initial due-diligence. Armed with the structure, Karl built a tool that guided senior management in calculating the costs to integrate a newly acquired firm. When tested against historical integrations, the calculator reduced actual vs. estimated deviations from 10x to less than 10%.
