About Karley Pardue
I am currently the Administrative Assistant for PBS Reno. From the reception area, I greet visitors and facilitate any questions they may have (in person or through the phone). I work with our clients for AP and AR invoicing, and provide administrative support where needed.Prior to that, I was an English composition instructor with 5+ years of experience within higher education. I facilitated coursework, presented materials, provided feedback on writing, and constantly updated my teaching practices to better help students learn and grow as writers, researchers, and readers. As a teacher, I was always invested in making my class accessible, easy to invest in, and a place of good, clear communication. In addition to teaching, I write (fiction, poetry, and blogging) and do research (comparative studies, textual analysis, etc.). As a writer, I use many of the same skills as in my research: detail-oriented, syntactically structured, rhythmically minded, audience aware. My current research utilizes film, gender, and culture studies in its approach to horror.I am represented by Amanda Jain at BookEnds Literary.

English Instructor
I was an adjunct instructor (LOA) for the English Department at the University of Nevada, Reno. During this time with the Core Writing department, I taught English 101 (Composition I), English 102 (Composition II), English 98 (Preparatory English), and ENG 100J (Composition Studio). ENG 101 focuses on developing the students' writing skills and their knowledge of how to use rhetoric within various projects, often by changing writing genres/audiences. ENG 102 uses contemporary rhetorical situations to help students engage with different genres of writing, including research. ENG 98 focuses on developing the fundamental skills of the writing process itself, as well as honing critical reading skills which are also necessary for the college experience. ENG 100J combines reading and writing skills while homing in on genre specific writing. My courses were taught remotely during the 2020-2021 school year.
