Extensive trial practice focusing on white collar criminal defense, including parallel proceedings, as well as complex business litigation and professional malpractice in Federal and State Courts, and before a myriad of regulatory agencies. Have tried capital cases to verdict. The white collar crime practice involves defending targets of federal and state prosecutions involving corruption and fraud claims including bank, mail, wire, worker's compensation, securities, health care and tax and includes individuals and business targets. The professional malpractice practice primarily involves defending real estate brokers, appraisers, title insurance agents, mortgage brokers and lawyers in court proceedings and before regulators. The title insurance practice centers on the defense of lender liens, when the validity or priority of the lien is challenged, generally involving large claim litigation. Served as Special Hearing Officer to the Superintendent of Ohio's Department of Insurance involving a contested acquisition of one domestic insurance company of another. Twice, served as Hearing Officer to the Ohio Secretary of State in ballot challenges and served as Special Counsel to the Ohio Attorney General in the defense of a Federal Action involving an elected State Office. Have been appointed Receiver by a Federal District Court. Appointed by the Ohio Supreme Court in 1987 as Commissioner of the Ohio Court of Claims hearing victim reparations claims, serving through 2004. Speak regularly to real estate trade groups, lecture on white collar criminal defense matters as well as title law issues, recently having presented on mortgage fraud to a title industry trade association.
