Systems EngineerThe objective of this position is to enable the company and its employees to work in the most effective and efficient way possible by leveraging technology and automation. The system engineer’s main responsibilities is to research, design, create, and implement new information systems. This individual is required to stay current on emerging technologies and evaluate them for possible implementation. This job requires emphasis to be placed on automation, scalability, stability, security, efficiency, compatibility and value when evaluating projects. The systems engineer will work closely with other employees to find area of improvement and collect information about business needs.• Installed new / rebuilt existing servers and configured hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements• Researched and recommended innovative, and where possible automated, approaches for system administration tasks. Identified approaches that leveraged resources and provided economies of scale• Performed daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups• Overhauled network backbone and upgraded to gigabit stackable multilayer switches in an effort to increase network efficiency. Implemented an internet proxy server and web filter• Built from the ground up an 18TB NAS with nightly incremental backups to serve as vm storage• Engineered and Implemented call center VoIP telephony system• Created and maintained business processes and documentation to increase efficiency and reliability• Automated patch management and asset management
