I think one of the reasons “passion” has become such a buzzword is because it taps into something people can’t explain. It’s like a fountain that never runs dry, something that we can return to again and again to find a sense of direction and purpose. That description sounds a lot more like God than anything else, and indeed I believe God gives us passions and gifts to develop and pursue in order to help make the world a bit more like it was intended to be. Rather unexpectedly, I discovered a passion for making film and video content when I was in my early 30’s. Since then, I’ve been honing my craft, striving to serve and make meaningful content with the organizations and relationships that have been placed on my path. I love figuring out the best way to tell a story, the angst of the creative process, and how filmmaking can speak to our souls. I’m grateful to have the support and love of my wife and our three children. They have enriched my life in ways they’ll never fully realize. Most of all, I’m a desperate pursuer of Jesus—whose story challenges and compels me in ways unexpected, every day.

For much of my life, I had dreams of starting my own company but didn't know what that was. I had almost lost the dream when I got involved with film production in my early 30's. Unexpectedly, all of the lights suddenly came on. For many reasons, it didn't seem like the right moment to start a business: I was married, had young children, and had just recently built a new home. But the word Kairos carries a divine connotation with it, and I could not deny that this was the Kairos moment I had been waiting for. Kairos Productions were my learning years. After I got some experience under my belt, I rebranded the company under the dba Taproot Pictures.
