I led a team of senior lawyers responsible for Vector’s electricity, gas and fibre networks, PowerSmart and E-Co Group, and advising Vector's digital and development teams (including batteries, solar, EV charging, energy management and peer to peer trading). We also managed the legal compliance function for the Vector Group.Vector is NZ's largest energy infrastructure services provider.

Dimension Data is one of the largest ICT services providers in NZ and a key contributor to group revenues of more than US$6.5 billion. As a member of the senior leadership team I took an active role in the executive management of Dimension Data and the execution of strategic business objectives. In addition to transactional leadership, I was responsible for legal governance, the company secretarial function and the management of risk in the New Zealand business. I reported to the New Zealand CEO and by business function to the Asia Pacific General Counsel.

Responsible for the management of the Crown’s $400 million stake in its joint venture UFB network operators Enable Networks, Northpower Fibre and Ultrafast Fibre. I managed CFH’s commercial interests in these LFCs and CFH’s legal interests under the transaction documents that structure the public-private partnerships, including support of negotiations relating to the design, build, operation and funding of the UFB network. I also represented CFH's policy interests under the UFB Reference Offers that structure engagement between LFCs and retail service providers, including through the exercise of CFH’s approval function in relation to Reference Offer changes. The UFB network build was (and remains) ahead of schedule and CFH’s contribution is on budget.

I built a strong technology sourcing practice working with clients to develop and implement best practice contracting and governance processes. I also drafted and negotiated contracts for the development, licensing and deployment of intellectual property, information technology and telecommunications products and services. Examples of experience include advising:* CFH on UFB partnering arrangements, including supporting negotiations with Chorus for the design, build and operation of the UFB network and drafting and advising on the first UFB Reference Offer* MBIE on its AoG collective procurement of commodities on behalf of all Government agencies* DIA on the syndicated procurement by an initial cluster of seven government agencies of telecommunications services to replace the Government Shared Network* a leading electricity generator and retailer on its procurement and implementation of a complex SAP enterprise resource planning system to replace legacy processes and architecture and related offshoring arrangements* REANNZ on its procurement of an anchor tenancy on Pacific Fibre’s planned submarine cable

Worked with five other bankers to build a trade receivable origination and financing business for Morgan Stanley. My responsibilities included the identification and management of commercial and legal risk, management of relationships with key internal and external stakeholders and development of strategies for growth. I also led the implementation of several business-critical projects, including structuring and implementing a funding structure to replace the existing commercial paper funding, hedging and memo accounting practice.

Built a busy practice advising on transformational projects, which included advising Aon on its negotiations for the establishment of an enterprise partnership with BPO services provider Xchanging, Verizon Business on its successful negotiations to provide outsourced telecommunications and network management services to ABN AMRO (then the largest ever outsourcing of telecommunications services worldwide), and Morgan Stanley on the establishment of its electronic receivables trading system.
